About Me

My photo
Train Mountain Railroad
Train Mountain was founded in 1987 by Quentin Breen. He assembled the property and developed over 25 miles of track before his death in 2008. In 2009 the IRS recorded $13.8 million of tax liens against the TM property based on Quentin's tax problems. In 2010 a law suit was initiated to find a way to discharge the liens. Friends of TM was appointed custodian of TM on November 1, 2012, with the authority to apply to the IRS to discharge the liens. If the IRS accepts the proposal, TM will be owned by Railroad Institute which will use the facility to provide railroad education. On November 1, 2012, Friends of TM became the custodians of TM, and will operate TM as custodians pending resolution of the IRS leans. Going forward, Friends of TM will continue to build new track. TM Railroad will offer members access to the track, organize meets and events, and coordinate the volunteer work projects. Klamath and Western railroad will continue to offer rides to the public. Railroad Institute will not initiate its major educational programs or accept donations until the IRS has agreed to discharge the liens and allow the property to be transferred to Railroad Institute.
